Adopting a dog from Cliff Top Kennels is a straightforward process designed to ensure the best possible match for both you and the dog. Here’s what to expect step by step:

Step 1: Initial Enquiry

If you see a dog on our website that catches your eye, please call us on 01723 870456. During this call we’ll ask a few questions about your household, lifestyle, and experience with dogs. This helps us understand whether the dog would be a good fit. You’re also welcome to ask us any questions about the dog.

Step 2: Meeting the Dog

If it seems like you could be a suitable match, we’ll arrange an appointment for you to come and meet the dog. We strongly recommend that everyone who lives in your home (including any other dogs) attends the meeting so we can see how everyone gets along.

Step 3: Reservation

If you decide you would like to adopt the dog, we ask for an initial non-refundable £30 deposit. This reserves the dog for you and prevents others from viewing them while we complete the process.

Step 4: Checks & Adoption

We will arrange a checks to ensure your property is suitable. Once approved, we’ll arrange a time for you to collect your new dog. At this stage you pay the remaining adoption fee and sign the adoption contract.

Adoption fees start from £80 and vary depending on the dog’s age, breed, and vaccination status. This can be discussed during your initial enquiry.

Post-Adoption Support

We’re here to support you even after adoption. Here are some of the ways we can help:

• Microchipping – All dogs are microchipped and registered in your name before they leave the kennels.
• Advice & Guidance – If you experience any difficulties, we are available Monday to Friday (9am – 5pm) for phone support.
• Training – Private training sessions are available with Jill Pennock Dog Training.
